to do!!

Inspiration boards are sometimes the greatest projects to work on! First, you get to collect pictures of fabulous people, places, colors, and more. And secondly, you get to look at your masterpiece everyday!!

I started inspiration boards my junior year in high school. I could never limit all of my inspirations to one board though...so I started 'style inspiration' scrapbooks. I am currently working on my 5th! AND I have my blog. So begin with a little project, decorate a bulletin board, a wall space, a binder; be creative and see where it takes you!

party lanterns

Happy Friday everyone! This week has me thinking of festive and colorful parties as we come closer and closer to summer! I often think that Memorial Day is the ultimate summer kick-off celebration! I will be spending the weekend with my family and our pool opens tomorrow so I will be definitely utilizing that to achieve a summer-time glow! I am working as an intern for a Congresswoman this summer, so I will hitting the Memorial Day parade scene Monday morning as well!!!

For those of you considering throwing a summer bash, attached is a link for how to make tissue paper pom-poms, from Martha Stewert! I will be posting party inspirations throughout the summer, so you'll be able to throw together a festive and fun get-together in NO time!

I am also attaching a song, a little more 'hardcore' than my typical blog style. It is the music group Pretty Lights remix to Kanye West's All of the Lights. Listen if you'd like!

Guest Post from Katie at Daily Crush

My friend from school, Katie, inspired me to the blog route this year! She has an adorable blog,
Daily Crush, and today is sharing some of her summer inspirations with us! Thanks Katie, you're the best!
Toodles!

I was thrilled when Clare asked me to guest post about some things that inspire me for summer. There are so many things that come to mind so I tried to pick a just a few to share with you today. When I think of summer I think of the normal things that probably comes to mind for everyone--like the beach, long weekends away, fruity cocktails and adorable sun dresses…but today I wanted to share a few things you may not always think of.

1. The Beach Bod

It may sound shallow and vein but I am a firm believer that a fit and firm body will make summer all that more enjoyable. Sitting on the beach in a bikini you don't feel fab in surely not as relaxing as feeling confident and fit. So tightening an toning up is definitely my goal in the weeks leading up to summer following several weeks of long nights in the library cramming for finals with lots of caffeine and sweedish fish, or whatever the dinner of choice is that night. I am no fitness expert but I highly recommend Body Rock TV, it is a website with fabulous workout videos that are generally less than ten minutes that you need no equipment for. Don't be intimidated by Zuzana and her rock-solid body!
I also love spinning, zumba and yoga, and can not say I am a huge fan of running but it probably is one of the best ways to loose weight quickly. And if you are willing to make a purchase, celebrity fitness trainer Tracy Anderson DVDs are sure to do the trick!!
Going along with the beach bod of course is the healthy diet, lots of fresh fruit, home grown vegetables

2. Being by the water

Since I was young I have been lucky enough to be by the water in the summer. Whether it be sailing, kayaking, or just sitting by the ocean I find it to be relaxing, and therapeutic. Feeling the warmth of the sun and the breeze of the ocean is one of the best feelings.

3. Road Trips-Weekend Junkets

During summer I feel especially lucky to live in New England there are so many weekend junkets to be planned…whether it be Burlington, VT, Newport, RI, Block Island or Nantucket there's always something to do!

4. And of course…the latest summer fashions

1. new swim suits. these are two I found and love from Anthropologie. they have really cute things this season!
2. stacked jewelry. I blog about this all the time-like here. I love it! I think it is so fun and can really add to a simple outfit! This "stack" was designed by Sisco Berluti jewelry-right out of my hometown!
3. I LOVE neon. I have been obsessed with it for a long time but I think we will be seeing a lot of it this spring! In the little collage I stuck in a MARC by Marc Jacobs Straw Canteen Messenger Bag
and a cute neon yellow top from Splendid.
4. I thought these beach bags were really cute! They sell them at Bloomingdales and Nordstrom.
5. more fun colorful jewelry is the best for warm weather! The earrings shown are by Loren Hope designs.
6. the PERFECT wedge. I have been getting way to excited to wear sandals and wedges-I love these ones by Diane Von Furstenberg that also come in black!
7. A wide-rim hat

Thank you so much Clare for having me!

lace

"I consider lace to be one of the prettiest imitations ever made of the fantasy of nature; lace always evokes for me those incomparable designs which the branches and leaves of trees embroider across the sky, and I do not think that any invention of the human spirit could have a more graceful or precise origin."

Art of Eating

Today is Opening Day for one of my best friend's restaurants! He is working with several friends in managing Carney's on 96th throughout the summer! For those of you on the Jersey Shore (Stone Harbor, not in Snooki territory) make sure to stop by sometime this summer. So to celebrate the occassion...I am doing what I do best...INSPIRATION!

There's nothing better than good eats with good people!
