Happy Halloween!!

Halloween is one of my most favorite holidays. I am blessed to have so many tremendous memories spent with family and friends. From crazy halloween costumes to neighborhood "ghosting" to trick or treat to categorizing the candy lot at the end of the night to the crisp fall nights, I love everything about Halloween (save for trashy costumes). My mom threw great halloween parties with festive treats and perfect decor. We would have guests come over to celebrate and my dad would take my brothers and I around the neighborhood for trick or treating. At the end of the night, while we'd  be battling sugar comas, my brothers and I would dump our bags and make piles of our treats around the living room floor. I also love dressing up. Even if it's not in a costume, I'll sport my festive orange + black.
I hope you have a wonderful holiday celebration, toodles!!

Classic Girl

Bebopping along to this song today. Perfect for a 'classic girl in the modern world'!

I see in black and white
When I go out every night
And I’m always so polite
It’s only lady lady ladylike

Have a drink and I’m on the run
Polished up and dressed to stun
Come on and make me another one
Go on and shake it shake it shake it up

I’ve been this way and I wanna stay a classic girl
So I’m making my place in the modern world

Sidecars in the dressing room
All my boys and my ladies too
We’re gonna take the stage soon
And show em show em how its done

So if you really want to be
Stuck in another time with me
Come on and do a little dance you’ll see
You’re gonna live it live it live it up

I’ve been this way and I wanna stay a classic girl
So I’m making my place in the modern world

Cause I need a time and place that is home for me
Yeah right here and now is where its gotta be

sneaker style

Fabulous looks. I think I might have to have a pair of new balance sneakers on my holiday list. The image of the woman flower shopping in her trench coat with her gym shoe kicks is just superb! What pairing is your fav?
Hope you have a wonderful day, toodles!

Tommy Hilfiger does the Preppy Handbook

So obsessed with these ads by Tommy Hilfiger. What a great way for the Preppy Handbook to come back to life!! Not only are the looks fabulous, but the write-ups are especially witty. Which prep stereotype do you channel?I think the Social Chair (Mrs. H) is a shoe in for Twirling Clare :)
Toodles!

See the excerpt from the original Preppy Handbook:

monogram sweaters

J.Crew released a video all about monograms a couple of months ago. The video sheds life on all of the different "stories" of a monogram ranging from its origin to how people portray the branding today.
I love a good monogram and have " <CWC> gracing my linens. I used to have a sweater monogramed (totally classic 80s prep style) in junior high. I wore it ALL the time! I am hoping to add a couple more monogrammed items into my wardrobe as we kick off the fall.
What's your take?

Lisi Lerch

I am so happy to share a tremendous talent on the blog today. Lisi has been sharing her creative spirit for over a decade designing gorgeous accessories. I love her jewelry collection for the fall which seems to blend regal classic styles and metals with a whimsical flair. I particularly love THIS necklace and THIS bracelet. What do you think?? I'd feel like a Egyptian princess, with the perfectly necessary, preppy taste.

Lisi Lerch began designing in the spring of 2001 as a creative outlet while her husband was studying for his master’s degree. Initially the business consisted of just festive derby hats sold to friends and family through home parties.
As demand grew Lerch began designing pieces of jewelry to accessorize with the hats. Now including necklaces, earrings, bracelets and even tunics, the brand has steadily grown and today is found online at www.lisilerch.com and at boutiques across the country.  Preppy enthusiasts enjoy Lerch’s bright colors with tortoise being as dark as the collection gets and the classic motifs of pearls and bamboo.

Go for the gold or not at all, that’s Main Line accessory designer Lisi Lerch’s motto for fall. For her fall collection Lerch was inspired by the flare of jewelry from Morocco, Egypt and India, specifically their use of gold coins. Lerch explains, “I love the subtle noise and movement of coins. The metal provides a beautiful statement both visually and audibly.” And a statement they are!
One of Lisi Lerch’s key necklaces for fall is the Rupee. Taking its name directly from India’s currency, the thin chain necklace features an assortment of dangling gold coins. While this season’s collection may be heavily influenced by gold coins, the pieces themselves are not heavy in weight. Pops of preppy colors can be found in the rest of the collection to compliment the golden hues. Jewelry from the collection is priced at $45 to $198.
